Daikin to Establish a New AC Production Base, Its First in Japanese Capital Region

On August 2, 2023, Daikin announced that it has decided to acquire land in Tsukubamirai City, Ibaraki Prefecture, to establish a new production base for air conditioners in the capital region of Japan. With its investment of about ¥20 billion (about US$ 140 million), the company will establish Tsukuba Plant (tentative name), a new production base for air conditioners covering an area of about 98,000 m2 in Ken-O Expressway Interpark Tsukubamirai. The new factory will start production of room air conditioners (RACs) between 2027 and 2028 as a first step. Capital investments, which will enable expansion of the production of products such as commercial air conditioners and heat pump water heaters, are also planned in the future, to keep pace with changes in the business environment.
