2. Carrier Chillers Being Available with Lower GWP Refrigerants
Carrier AquaEdge 19XR watercooled centrifugal chillers, 23XR water-cooled screw chillers, and AquaForce 30XV/XA air-cooled screw chillers are compatible with both R134a as well as lower global warming potential (GWP) option R513A.

3. Record Heat Pump Sales in Germany
The German heat pump association Bundesverband Wärmepumpe (BWP) has announced that heat pump sales in Germany broke a new record in 2017. With a total of 78,000 heat pumps sold and a year-on-year increase of 17%, government policy and stricter energy saving requirements are paying off, and sales in 2017 beat the former record achieved the previous year.

4. Daikin to Expand VRV Sales in U.S. Residential Market by Promoting Its Product Flexibility
Daikin acquired U.S.-based Goodman in 2012, and its new facility named the Daikin Texas Technology Park (DTTP) opened in May 2017. During the 2018 AHR Expo held in January, JARN interviewed Takayuki Inoue, executive vice president, Sales and Marketing, Daikin North America, to hear about its business strategy in the U.S. market after its acquisition of Goodman.

5. Chinese Centrifugal Chiller Manufacturers Enjoy Rapid Growth
The Chinese centrifugal chiller market in 2017 amounted to RMB 4.8 billion (US$ 757 million). The market has been dominated by foreign brands, namely York, Trane, Carrier, McQuay, and Dunham Bush, with a combined share of more than 70% of the total market, showing slight year-on-year growth. Gree, Midea, and Haier have about a 15% market share with strong year on-year growth.
