1. Panasonic’s New Commercial AC Sales Company in China Launches Operations in September
Panasonic established Panasonic Appliances Air-Conditioning Equipment (China) Co., Ltd. (PAPAECN) on June 6, 2018, with the objective of strengthening its commercial air conditioner business in the Chinese market. The sales company, which exclusively sells commercial air conditioner systems, launched its sales operations this September.

2. China’s VRF Market Slows in the First Half of 2018
In the first half of 2018, the variable refrigerant flow (VRF) market in China has been shifting from a developmental to a mature stage. In particular, VRF systems for residential applications confronted a bottleneck period in their development. Of them, mini-VRF systems, which had been growing dramatically in the home decoration market, now experienced stagnation in sales. Their growth rate was only 7% in the first half of 2018, which showed a sharp decline from the 38.4% growth rate in the first half of 2017.

3. R290 AC Market in India
India was one of the countries to explore the use of propane (R290) in room air conditioners (RACs). The stage was set in 2012 by Godrej Appliances.  The cumulative sales of R290 air conditioners so far have been over 700,000, of which about 130,000 were sold during 2017-2018, amounting to a market share of about 3% of the Indian split air conditioner market.

4. IFA 2018 Represents Modern Life Filled with Smart Electrical Appliances
IFA, the world’s leading trade show for consumer electronics and home appliances, was held from August 31 to September 5 at Messe Berlin in Germany. The exhibition attracted 245,000 visitors and 1,814 exhibitors. Chinese exhibitors accounted for about 40% of the exhibitors. Chinese electrical appliance manufacturers are increasingly present in Europe.
