4. How the Italian Chiller Market Has Changed through the Years
The chiller market is strongly influenced by the construction market, not only new construction projects, but also refurbishments of houses or apartments, and commercial and industrial plants and buildings. In 2017, total investment in buildings reached €166.2 billion (US$ 189 billion) and 73.1% of the total construction activity concerned refurbishment. This means that replacement is the main driver of the chiller market. Replacement of obsolete systems and installation of high-performance systems are the main facets of this market. It is interesting to observe that many VRF manufacturers offer the option of installing not only direct expansion (DX) indoor units, but also hot water systems both for sanitary use and for floor heating, in a configuration that may be considered as a small-capacity chiller.

5. YORK YES-RM Commercial VRF with Floor Heating Function
Currently, in order to solve the lack of centralized heating in East China in winter and rising heating demand in winter, Qingdao Johnson Controls Air-Conditioning is leveraging its advantages in R&D, production, and marketing, and held a launching ceremony for the YES-RM commercial VRF system with a floor heating function at Johnson Controls’ Asia-Pacific headquarters in Shanghai on November 2, 2018. The product presents high efficiency and stable cooling in summer as well as strong heating in winter. In heating mode, it will switch to floor heating after the room temperature goes up rapidly, overcoming the limit of traditional heating.
