The top three air conditioner brands in China, namely Gree, Midea, and Haier, led the local market with a cumulative 71% market share. 5. Indian Market
Due to the impending change in the Star Rating scheme, the industry saw large stocks being billed to dealers during the year-end of 2017. Expecting a normal summer in 2018, the dealers built up their inventories. But because of intermittent rains across the country during the summer months, the demand for RACs dropped during the peak season, leading to a negative growth in secondary sales from dealers to consumer in 2018.
By the end of 2018, the overall decline in air conditioner primary sales is expected to be 7.5%, and market scale is estimated at about 5.22 million.
