1. Alternative Refrigerants for R410A - Which will become the leading alternative to R410A?
Currently in Japan, mildly flammable R32 is becoming the main refrigerant used in RACs and PACs. In Europe as well, R32 air conditioners are becoming more common, and in the small chiller segment, products using mildly flammable R452B and R454B have also been announced. Honeywell’s N41 (R466A) mentioned earlier is a promising nonflammable refrigerant, but it is not yet commercially available as of March 2019. Chemours is also promoting its nonflammable XP41 (R463A). A wide variety of refrigerants (brands) have appeared in the market with their various properties promoted. The battle is now unfolding to decide the refrigerant that will achieve future market dominance. Which refrigerant or refrigerants will win? As of today, nothing is yet certain.

2. ENGIE to Unveil New Quantum Air Chillers
Quantum chillers have been an ENGIE Refrigeration flagship product for many years, and are used by many customers around the world in a variety of industries. To provide customers with even more effective and efficient cooling in the future, ENGIE Refrigeration has redesigned the entire air-cooled Quantum series, and the new Quantum Air models will be rolled out worldwide as of June 2019.

3. LG Shows Unrivalled Ability to Provide Integrated HVAC Solutions
During HARFKO 2019 held in March in Korea, JARN visited LG’s booth and interviewed Hangseok Choi, vice president and division leader of SAC sales and marketing division, LG, to hear about the company’s sales and marketing strategies and cutting-edge products.

4. Heat Pump Forum 2019 —On May 15–16 in Brussels, Belgium
The European Heat Pump Association (EHPA) will organize Heat Pump Forum 2019 at The Egg in Brussels, Belgium, on May 15 to 16, 2019. In its 2019 edition, EHPA’s Heat Pump Forum (#HPForum2019) puts heat pump technology at the center of the debate on the energy transition. At the forum, participants will learn about the recognition of heat pump technologies in policy – both at the European and Member State levels, will be informed about market development, and will receive firsthand experience from users of heat pump solutions in the industry and the renovation sector, etc.

5. Gree’s First Exclusive Showroom in Mumbai, India
On March 7, 2019, Gree opened its first exclusive showroom in Mumbai. Mumbai, the economic center of India and India’s largest economic city, is known as India’s Shanghai, where every inch of land is as valuable as gold. The air conditioning market of Mumbai is flooded with numerous brands, so the competition is very fierce, with Japanese and South Korean brands dominating. Therefore, acquisition of the Mumbai market is of great significance to Gree India.
