1. Rheem Combines Strong Hot Water Supply Technology with Air Conditioning
After 2019 AHR Expo held in January in Atlanta, Georgia, the United States, JARN visited Rheem’s global Water Heating Division headquarters and Innovation Learning Center (ILC) in Atlanta and interviewed Chris Peel, president and chief executive officer (CEO) of Rheem, to gain an insight into the company’s global business development at present and in the near future. Throughout 2017 and 2018, Rheem opened six ILCs in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, and we asked Mr. Peel about the centers’ purpose and the impact it will have on Rheem’s business in the future.

2. Fujitsu General Voted Australia’s Most Trusted Brand
For the second consecutive year Australia’s Favourite Air, Fujitsu General, has been voted the Reader’s Digest Most Trusted Brand: air conditioning. The 20th Reader’s Digest Most Trusted Brands awards asked Australian consumers for opinions on what products and services are most important. The results reveal the country’s attitude on the most trustworthy brands.

3. Carrier Transicold Europe Selects Chemours for New Low-GWP Refrigerant
Demonstrating its commitment to innovative and sustainable solutions, Carrier Transicold Europe is collaborating with Chemours to replace R452A in transport refrigeration equipment starting in 2021.  Carrier Transicold Europe is evaluating several refrigerants from Chemours’ Opteon XL family to determine the optimal combination of low environmental impact energy use, high performance, safety and longevity.

4. Haier Announces Its Second Industrial Park in India
China’s leading appliances maker Haier announced on March 29 the ground breaking ceremony of its second industrial park in India at Greater Noida near Delhi. The company had signed a memorandum of understanding with the Uttar Pradesh government last September to invest INR 30.69 billion (US$ 438 million) over the next three years in two phases. With this investment, Haier India plans to scale up the production capacity of air conditioners, refrigerators, televisions, and appliances. This park will have a capacity to produce one million air conditioners and two million refrigerators per annum, among other items, when completed.

5. Guangdong, China Plans to Promote ATW as Renewable Energy System
Guangdong’s Housing and Urban and Rural Development Department has released the review draft of the Guangdong Province Public Building Energy Saving Design Standard, and has been asking for public opinions. The draft has been clarified to include air-to-water (ATW) heat pump water heaters as recyclable energy systems.
