France’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) rose 1.5% in 2018, down slightly compared with 1.8% in 2017. Growth was sluggish in the building sector in 2018. Sales of heat pumps in France are to a great extent related to the number of new homes built. However, the number of new homes built in 2018 dropped by 7% compared with 2017 to around 398,000. The building industry is expecting 2019 to be sluggish too.
