1. Johnson Controls-Hitachi Air Conditioning Opens Global Development Center in India
On October 4, 2019, Johnson Controls-Hitachi Air Conditioning announced the opening of a new Global Development Center in Kadi, Gujarat State, India. The result of a US$ 22.5 million investment, the state-of-the art facility will drive the company’s world-class innovation capabilities with a strong focus on developing residential air conditioners and commercial packaged air conditioners for India as well as the Southeast Asia, Middle East, and European markets.

2. FEBRAVA and CONBRAVA Provide Knowledge Forum for HVAC&R Players
FEBRAVA and CONBRAVA were simultaneously held on September 10–13, 2019, at Sao Paulo Expo, Brazil.
The 21st edition of FEBRAVA attracted about 25,000 visitors, and 300 exhibitors in the 50,000 m2 exhibition area showcased various HVAC&R products. With ‘New Technologies and Energy Efficiency in HVAC-R Systems’ as theme, CONBRAVA provided an opportunity to exchange experience, update, and spread knowledge based on the most modern technologies and solutions within the scope of the segments represented.

3. Welcome Air-Tech to Accelerate Sales of Saiver’s DX AHUs with Panasonic’s VRFs in Asia
Welcome Air-Tech in Hong Kong offers a system combining Italy-based Saiver’s DX air handling units (AHUs) with Panasonic’s variable refrigerant flow (VRF) systems in Asia, utilizing its partnership with both companies. JARN interviewed Pachu Leung, managing director of Welcome Air-Tech, and Marco Saita, managing director of Saiver, to hear about their company profiles and business plan for this DX AHU with a VRF solution.

4. Spanish HVAC Market Shows Downward Trend in First Half of 2019
This year in Spain, spring was almost nonexistent and hot weather didn’t arrive until the end of July. This weather pattern has affected the HVAC market negatively, especially in the residential sector. However, in the commercial market, sales have risen in comparison with the same period in 2018. This has been due to dynamization of building construction sector, greater demand for comfort, building refurbishments, and European decarbonization policies, which promote efficient heating and cooling systems and the use of renewable energy sources.

5. China’s AC Exports Decline by 5.7% in January–July 2019
China’s air conditioner manufacturers have been confronted with gloomy economies, currency fluctuations, and rising tariffs. In such a challenging environment, China’s air conditioner exports decreased by 5.7% year-on-year on a volume basis in the period spanning January to July 2019, according to data from China Customs.
