4. Russian Chiller Market
When looking at the Russian chiller market dynamics, one obvious trend emerges. At the turn of the century, the U.S. giants Carrier, YORK, and Trane dominated, with up to 60% of total sales. Then over time, the share of the U.S. giants decreased gradually. This became especially marked after the global financial crisis of 2008–2009. A degree of inversion of the trend could be observed in 2013 alone, when preparation for the 2014 Winter Olympics was underway and many large construction projects were realized in Sochi, the Olympic venue. YORK equipment was mainly used for these projects. Later, from 2013 to 2016, the share of the U.S. giants dropped from 41% to 19%, because leading Italian manufacturers dominated the Russian market. They eroded the share of the U.S. giants thanks to the competitive prices of their chillers. However, the U.S. giants recovered their share in 2018–2019 to the mid-2000s level, mainly thanks to the price-cutting policy of them.

5. Chinese AC Manufacturers’ Technology Competition on Stage at the Canton Fair
The 126th China Import and Export Fair was held at China Import and Export Fair Pazhou Complex, Guangzhou, and was divided into Phase 1 from October 15 to 19, Phase 2 from October 23 to 27, and Phase 3 from October 31 to November 4. Phase 1 of the Canton Fair focused on electronics and household electrical appliances, which was a front line for the air conditioner trade. Made-in-China air conditioners account for 80% of the global market, and major production bases are concentrated at the Pearl River Delta. Leading Chinese air conditioner manufacturers presented their cutting-edge products and technologies at their large booths, which attracted global buyers.
