1. Greenbuild 2019 Closed with Announcement of New Initiatives and Future Visions
The Greenbuild International Conference and Expo, presented by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) was held from November 18 to 22, 2019 in Atlanta, where thousands of global green building and sustainability leaders gathered. Greenbuild 2019 featured four days of inspiring education sessions and keynote speeches every day of the conference.

2. Taiwan Bingdian Develops AI Inverter Air Conditioner
In the context of today’s fierce competition, Bingdian has been operating well, even with a low production volume. To look into the secret of this success, JARN’s reporter visited Bingdian’s factory in Taiwan in September and interviewed James Lin, the founder of Bingdian, to learn about the company’s latest market strategy and technology development.

3. JCI Opens New Training Center for Nationwide HVAC Training Initiative
On December 5, 2019 Johnson Controls (JCI) celebrated the grand opening of a new Source 1 HVAC Supply and YORK NW Factory Direct training center on November 20 in Fife, Wash. The opening marks the second training center Source 1 and YORK Factory Direct has opened as part of JCI nationwide training initiative. The center will focus primarily on residential and commercial service and installation, but it will also include training on VRF and ductless products.

4. CAREL Wins Prize at European Small and Mid-Cap Awards
At the annual European Small and Mid-Cap Awards held on November 12 in Brussels, CAREL won the prize for the ‘International Star’ of the European market. These awards were created in 2013 by the European Commission (EC) to recognize the best small and medium-sized companies listed on Europe’s stock markets.

5. Singles’ Day Promotional Campaign Stimulates AC Price War
The air conditioner price war during the promotional campaign for Singles’ Day around November 11 in China has come to an end. During the campaign period, Gree cut prices, and Midea, AUX, and Haier followed suit, resulting in intensified price war. In the case of Gree, which spearheaded the price-cut race, the company offered premium air conditioner models at favorable prices, with RMB 1,599 (about US$ 230) for inverter models at the lowest, RMB 1,399 (about US$ 200) for noninverter models at the lowest, and a harmonized price for the same model. Gree conducted this campaign at all its authorized e-commerce platforms and more than 30,000 franchised stores.
