1. Vietnam, a Model Student in the AC Market — AC Market Trends in the First Half of 2020
Vietnamese air conditioner market performed very well in the first half of this year, despite the fact that most Southeast Asian countries were in a dire condition, hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic. In the Vietnamese RAC market at present, Japan-based Daikin and Panasonic are leading with a combined market share of about 50%, thanks to their high-quality products. South Korean-based LG closely follows on the heels of the Japanese giants, and benefits from a good reputation. The local brand Casper has also increased sales of its low-priced RACs at large chain stores in the past two years.

2. French Heat Pump Market Could Shrink Due to Plummeting Fuel Prices
Eric Bataille, president of Association Française pour les Pompes A Chaleur (AFPAC) – the French heat pump association, gave his views concerning a huge drop in the price of domestic fuel in France recently. The low price of domestic fuel could be a major threat to sales of heat pumps in 2020.

3. Klima-Therm Group Records 23% Increase in Sales in 2019
Klima-Therm Group – the general distributor of Fujitsu General in Poland and in Scandinavia, as well as the manufacturer of Klimor air handling units (AHUs) – recorded a 23% increase in sales, with revenue as high as nearly €102.8 million (US$ 116.2 million).

4. China AC Exports on a Roller Coaster
According to China’s Customs data, the total export of air conditioners in the first quarter of 2020 fell by 9.1% on a volume basis and by 15.4% on a value basis, compared with the same period in 2019. By destination, the export volume to Asia increased by 4.8% year-on-year, while the remaining areas experienced varied declines, from the smallest decline of less than 1% in Europe to declines greater than 25% in North America and Africa. Other areas also suffered a double-digit decline.

5. Goldensea Develops Filter to Combat the Novel Coronavirus
The COVID-19 pandemic has affected countries and people worldwide, and is the most severe crisis faced by human society since World War II. Strategy designed to reduce the risk of infection is a big issue. In response to market demand, Zhejiang Goldensea Environment Technology has developed the latest anti-virus filter, which has been recognized by the industry and the market, and is widely used in the central air conditioning, transportation, and other air filtration fields. JARN interviewed Ding Hongguang, president of Goldensea, to hear about this filter.
