1. ebm-papst Award for Research and Development
For its R&D work, ebm-papst has received the “Innovative through Research” seal of approval from the Donors’ Association for the Promotion of Sciences and Humanities in Germany for the fourth time in a row. The award, which is valid for two years, honors companies ‘that show a special commitment to R&D’, as the association states.

2. Carrier Transicold Launches Vector 8611MT Trailer Refrigeration Unit
Carrier Transicold has launched its innovative Vector 8611MT multi-temperature trailer refrigeration unit. Designed for trailers split lengthwise with a center dividing wall, the unit creates two refrigerated compartments without requiring a remote evaporator. The all-electric architecture of Carrier Transicold’s Vector platform enables the Vector 8611MT unit to independently manage both zones more simply and efficiently than mechanically interconnected competitive dual-discharge systems.

3. Data Center Cooling Methods Update
Data center cooling methods include air conditioning cooling, geothermal cooling, liquid cooling, immersion cooling, and natural air and water cooling.  Among them, cooling using the cold air produced by air conditioners such as packaged air conditioners (PACs) and chillers is the most common method. In recent years, the growth rate of data volume has been expanding extremely rapidly, reportedly reaching about 500% annually, leading to a further increase in demand for data center cooling. According to Global Market Insights, the market size of data center cooling equipment will reach US$ 20 billion by 2024.

4. AREA Welcomes a Union of African Associations in AC&R
European Association (AREA) is delighted to welcome the creation of the Union of Associations of African Actors in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning (U-3ARC) consisting of 25 associations from 24 countries. Following in the footsteps of AREA’s experience with continental associations for contractors, and with AREA’s support, the first meeting was held on May 17. The next meeting will be held on September 24 to 26 in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, and will be the first General Assembly of these 25 associations.

5. Chinese Key Component Companies Actively Develop High-end Products
In China, the government is aggressively assisting economic recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic. In this context, Chinese manufacturers in the heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration (HVAC&R) industry are promoting their products featuring functions such as antiviral, higher energy efficiency, and higher performance. Chinese component manufacturers have been contributing to the development of such high end products.
