1. MHI Thermal Systems Ramping up Marketing of Air Conditioners in Taiwan
Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Thermal Systems (MHI Thermal Systems) is ramping up marketing of air conditioners specifically created for the Taiwanese market, where Japanese brands enjoy a high market share. In June, the company introduced a 4.1-kW wall-mounted unit for residential use, followed in July by a 4-way ceiling cassette unit for commercial use, equipped with an automatic lifting panel, the company’s first introduction of this feature for the overseas market.

2. Ziehl-Abegg Investment of €16 million for Growth Post Corona
Ziehl-Abegg is investing 16 million (US$ 18 million) in the expansion of its production site at Kupferzell. Minister for Economic Affairs Dr. Nicole Hoffmeister-Kraut praised the investment at the official groundbreaking ceremony. Ziehl-Abegg has been affected by the global COVID-19 pandemic, but sales are close to those of the previous year. “However, a higher than average 8.6% increase in sales across the industry in 2019 provides a solid foundation,” explains CEO Peter Fenkl. In particular, Drive Technology Division, which manufactures electric motors for elevators, is receiving record orders this year.

3. Embraco Sees Energy Efficiency & Low Noise Demand in Medical Refrigeration
In 2015, Embraco brand led the introduction of the first inverter compressor in the medical refrigeration segment in a co-development project and, in 2018, Embraco co-developed, with a leading medical cabinet manufacturer, a solution for ultra-low-temperature applications that was able to reduce the energy consumption by at least 54% in comparison with a non-inverter compressor.

4. Magnetic-bearing Centrifugal Chillers Enhance Their Presence in China
As an environmentally friendly product, the characteristics of magnetic-bearing centrifugal chillers include low noise, no friction, and a long service life, among others. Originating in Australia, magnetic-bearing centrifugal chillers have developed rapidly in the European and North American markets. Now Asia has developed into the largest market, with a global share of 43.9%. In recent years, chillers have ushered in a peak in development, especially in the Chinese market. In China, sales of magnetic-bearing centrifugal chillers increased by 17% year-on-year in 2019, against a backdrop of a declining overall chiller market, thanks to the government’s policies on energy conservation, emissions reduction, and green buildings.
