1. German Heat Pump Industry Expects Strong Growth
Germany’s heat pump industry is optimistic that new public incentives will boost sales in the coming years, following rather sluggish growth in 2019. Data from the German heat pump association Bundesverband Wärmepumpe (BWP) demonstrate that 86,300 heat pumps were installed in the country in 2019, an increase of 2% compared with the previous year, bringing the total number to 966,000 units.

2. Awareness-rising Activities Conducted Worldwide on World Refrigeration Day
Held annually on June 26, World Refrigeration Day reached its second year in 2020. Called the ‘Coolest Day of the Year,’ it is an international awareness-raising campaign created to raise the profile of the refrigeration, air conditioning, and heat pump sector and focuses attention on the significant role that the industry and its technology play in modern life and society. This year’s theme was‘Cold Chain 4 Life’.

3. Johnson Controls-Hitachi Air Conditioning Centrifugal Chillers for Turkey
Johnson Controls-Hitachi Wanbao Air Conditioning Guangzhou supported COVID-19 designated hospitals in Turkey with 17 units of its high efficiency centrifugal chillers, with a total cooling capacity of 30,000 tons. Ikitelli City Hospital in Istanbul has been retrofitted into a temporary designated hospital for treating patients during the epidemic and has set up 2,682 beds in five buildings. This is the first project in Turkey for the company’s centrifugal chillers.

4. Mayekawa Revamps Four NewTon Series Models
Mayekawa has revamped four of its NewTon series. NewTon units are highly efficient refrigeration systems adopting natural refrigerants. The series range from NewTon R-8000 for Class F cold storage facilities, NewTon F-800 for freezers, NewTon C for Class C cold storage facilities and ice plants, to NewTon S for ice arenas, and the company has begun selling them in earnest. The NewTon C/NewTon S models are now 11% lighter, and 20% smaller in terms of required installation space.

5. CLIMETAL(Madrid) Is Confident in Business Growth of Microchannel Heat Exchangers
Climetal’s microchannel heat exchangers are advanced, efficient, readily recyclable, are an optimal total life cycle cost solution for heat rejection in most refrigerant units, and are sold in over 45 countries. According to Mr. Maiz, microchannel heat exchangers represent the best state of-the-art product for air-side heat exchange in the industry. It is not a new technology. To meet the rapid development of modern microelectronic heat transfer requirements, microchannel heat exchangers began to be used in cooling high density electronic devices in the 1980s, then appeared in many other segments of the heat transfer industry in the 1990s.
