2020-09-17
Key Takeaway: The AIM Act has been added as an amendment to an upcoming Energy Bill that could be passed this year.

After months of Senate negotiations, Senators Barrasso, Kennedy, and Carper have announced they have reached an agreement to advance the American Innovation and Manufacturing Act (AIM Act, S. 2754) as an amendment to the American Energy Innovation Act. The AIM Act would phase down the use of HFCs, including refrigerants, by 85 percent over a 15-year period. This agreement sets up the AIM Act for passage as an amendment to a bipartisan energy bill, however timing of energy bill and additional amendments remains up in the air.
