1. Chinese RAC Exports to Africa Fall by 12.4% in January to May 2020
Africa is an attractive and potentially large air conditioning market which has achieved steady growth in recent years. However, the sudden outbreak of COVID-19 brought a huge disaster to this young market. According to China Customs, China’s exports of room air conditioners (RACs) to Africa during the period spanning January to May 2020, were estimated at nearly 1.73 million units, down 12.4% from the same period last year. This decline was mainly due to a big decline in Algeria, the largest market. In the second half of the year, the decline in the African market may be even worse.
