This year’s global economy has been hit hard by the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. In this difficult context, the information technology (IT) industry is one of the few areas that remains strong. In particular, demand for data centers is growing in order to respond to the rapidly increasing amount of information handled. 2. Review of the Global AC Market in the First Half of 2020 — China
According to data from China Market Monitor, Chinese RAC sales in the first half of 2020 were 30.95 million units with a year-on-year decrease of 15.3% or RMB 92.2 billion (US$ 13.3 billion) with a year-on year decrease of 26%. In the commercial air conditioner sector, China IOL estimated that sales decreased by 12% year on year in the first half of 2020 due to the COVID-19 impact on small to medium-sized projects.

4. Johnson Controls-Hitachi Air Conditioning Plans to Increase Indigenization
After suffering a hit in business in the current year due to the pandemic, air conditioner manufacturer, Johnson Controls-Hitachi Air Conditioning India expects to resume its growth journey from 2021, said Gurmeet Singh, chairman and managing director of the company, on August 16. The company has reported an over 70% drop in sales in the second quarter of 2020. However, it remains fully committed to the Indian market and is confident about its long-term prospects. “In a recent report, we submitted to the government on behalf of the air conditioner industry, we foresee sales to grow almost three-fold in the next eight years or so, and the company would be outgrowing the industry,” Mr. Singh said.

5. Emerson and New Energy Secure Big Heat Pump Project in Hebei
Emerson has teamed up with its partner New Energy to participate in a Coal-to-Electricity heating retrofit project in Zhao County, Hebei Province, which is the largest air-source heat pump (ASHP) centralized heating project in China. In 2019, Zhao County, which is severely affected by air pollution issues, decided to improve the local environment by implementing clean heating in winter, and planned to carry out a clean energy retrofit covering an area of 4.3 million m2. To meet all the challenges in this important civil project in Zhao County, Emerson upgraded and adjusted the compressor according to the actual needs of the project, and finally applied 4,800 units of ZW series Copeland Scroll heat pump compressors.
