1. UK £2 Billion New Grant Is Designed to Boost Heat Pump Demand
In August 2020, the UK government announced a Green Homes Grant which will give homeowners in England vouchers worth up to £2 billion (US$ 2.6 billion) in total, to implement one or more green cooling and heating measures including air-source heat pumps (ASHPs) in existing properties during the planned period spanning September 30, 2020 to March 31, 2021. Coinciding with the launching of this Green Homes Grant, Good Energy, the 100% renewable power company, has launched the United Kingdom’s first ever heat pump tariff.

2. Carrier Introduces WeatherExpert Commercial Rooftop Featuring EcoBlue Technology
On September 23, 2020, Carrier announced that its WeatherExpert line of rooftop units now includes the variable-speed 48JC gas/electric and 50JC electric/electric models designed to vary cooling capacity down to 25% and up to 105% of normal capacity. The units boast impressive SEER ratings up to 20.0 and feature innovative EcoBlue Technology.

5. Musings on HVAC&R - Anabling Animals to Survive the Heat and Cold
Air conditioning is important not only for humans, but also for precision machinery such as computers in data centers, and animals, which tend to be forgotten, such as pets and animals in zoos.
Measures zoos take to combat heat and cold
There are various animals in zoos, including animals from hot and cold regions. Previously, zoos did not use air conditioning to create an environment suitable for the animals, and prioritized acclimatizing the animal to the climate of the area where the zoo is located. As of 2005, 80% of Japanese zoos had no temperature and humidity control. In recent years, zoo animals have become valuable due to the destruction of the natural environment, and the environment of zoos has been improved.
