1. Direct Air Capture in the Limelight as a CO2 Reduction Method
Of various CO2 emission reduction technologies, direct air capture (DAC) is a method that has been in the limelight in recent years. DAC is a method that aims to capture CO2 released into the atmosphere directly from the atmosphere. Until now, CO2 emission control measures have mainly depended on clean energy, energy-saving equipment, and CO2 capture and storage (CCS), but DAC is unique, as in the extreme, it can be implemented while continuously using conventional power generation plants and various types of equipment. With increasing numbers of countries aiming for zero CO2 emissions in 2050, it is estimated that DAC will be required in addition to conventional technologies for CO2 emissions reduction and prevention, and DAC is expected to expand to a greater extent in the future.
