1. European Heat Pump Markets Continue to Grow in Difficult Times
Decarbonizing the heating and cooling sector has been named one of the key challenges towards an emissions-free and renewables-based European society. The European Union (EU) heat pump markets recovered and the year 2020 finished with 6% growth. In 2020, 1.6 million heat pumps were sold in the 21 countries covered by EHPA’s market report, an increase of annual sales by 6% compared to the 1.5 million units sold in 2019. This led to a heat pump stock of 14.84 million units at the end of 2020.

2. AWE2021 Showcases Smart Future
With the theme of ‘Smartize the Future’, Appliance and Electronics World Expo (AWE) was held from March 23 to 25, 2021, at National Exhibition and Convention Center in Shanghai, China. Hosted by China Household Electrical Appliances Association (CHEAA), AWE is Asia’s largest and one of the top three international appliance and consumer electronics shows worldwide. Combined with AWE2020 that postponed due to the pandemic, AWE2021 expanded its exhibition area to 12 exhibition halls covering 150,000 m2. On the exhibition floor, more than 1,000 exhibitors displayed tens of thousands of stylish, high-quality, cutting-edge home appliances.

4. Emerson Joins the Carrier Alliance Supplier Program
On March 11, 2021, Carrier announced that Emerson has joined the Carrier Alliance program. As part of the program, Emerson will continue to provide leading-edge software and technologies from its air conditioning and cold chain businesses, such as compressors, valves, and sensors, to a range of products throughout the Carrier portfolio.

5. Hisense Air Conditioner Production Line in Thailand Put into Operation
On March 10, the first air conditioner manufactured in Thailand rolled off Hisense air conditioner’s first production line. This production line is capable of producing window units, mobile air conditioners, dehumidifiers, and split outdoor units. Through its application of many mature automation technologies from China, it will assist Hisense air conditioner in reaching a record high overall production capacity. This is a significant step for Hisense air conditioner in exploring the overseas market, and will boost Hisense’s progress towards internationalization.
