1. World Refrigeration Market Trends – Increasing Demand for Quick frozen Food
Quick-frozen food can reduce the problem of food loss and indirectly benefit environmental protection efforts. Quick-frozen food refers to freshly processed food that is instantly frozen at a low temperature, and is stored, transported and sold at a temperature of –18ºC or lower. Quick-frozen food is seeing growing demand on a global scale. Developing refrigeration technology for preservation provides consumers with delicious quick-frozen food, and its nutritional quality and convenience are beyond any doubt. Demand for quick-frozen food is increasing both in developed countries such as the United States, and in developing countries. In some countries in Southeast Asia, members of the younger generation have changed their dietary habits.

2. North America - Demand for Frozen Food Increasing
The United States is the country with the largest production volume of quick-frozen food in the world, with an annual production volume of 20 million tons in more than 3,000 categories. This is coupled with the highest per capita consumption volume, over 80 kg per capita annually. Quick-frozen food accounted for 60 to 70% of the total food industry. Nearly one year after the pandemic began, a new report found frozen foods were among the fastest-growing categories in the grocery store, with clear signs that Americans’ fondness for frozen foods will continue to grow.

3. Southeast Asia
Southeast Asia is the region with the highest growth rate in the cold chain sector. One of the reasons is that demand for fresh food is increasing due to population growth and improving living standards. Other reasons include the popularization of household appliances and the increasing demand for frozen food. Huge market potential has boosted investment by Japanese manufacturers in this region. Food processing companies and retail giants have all gained a foothold in Southeast Asia. Many Japanese food processing companies have set up production bases in ASEAN countries in order to process quick-frozen food and to sell such products back to Japan and in other regions.
