1. Carrier HFO-1234ze Heat Pumps Help Decarbonize London
Carrier AquaForce 61XWHZE high-temperature heat pumps operating on ultra-low global warming potential (GWP) hydrofluoroolefins (HFO) 1234ze refrigerant have been chosen for E.ON’s district heating and cooling scheme in the City of London. Solutions such as AquaForce heat pumps support Carrier’s aim of reducing customers’ carbon footprint by more than 1 Gt, part of its 2030 Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Goals.

2. SWEP Introduces Hypertwain - Innovative Concept for AC & HP Markets
SWEP is now launching its first BPHE based on its novel Hypertwain technology. It is called the FTW250AS and primarily targets reversible chillers and heat pumps. Hypertwain integrates several functions critical for evaporator and condenser duties in chiller and heat pump applications. The FTW250AS covers a capacity span up to around 70 USRT while the Hypertwain platform is being extended with additional BPHEs aiming for capacities up to 200 USRT with both single and dual circuits. Focus refrigerants are all high-pressure refrigerants such as R32, R410A, R454B, R452B, as well as being verified for R290 (propane).

3. NYC Bans Fossil Fuel Combustion in New Buildings
In December 2021, Bill de Blasio, then mayor of New York City, signed a local law requiring the phase-out of fossil fuel combustion in new buildings and accelerated realization of all-electric buildings. While other cities have enacted such bans, New York City is the first cold-weather city to do so, as well as the largest in the United States.

4. AC Retail Sales in China Decreased by 8.7% YoY
After undergoing raw material price increases, Double Controls on energy efficiency, repeated outbreaks during the COVID-19 pandemic, rain during the hot season, and disturbances in the overall market thanks to newly emerging residential products, the air conditioner market in China presented a low base, weak recovery and falling numbers both in sales volume and sales value in 2021. According to statistics from AVC, 2021 saw total retail sales of RMB 152.7 billion (about US$ 24.00 billion), falling by 1.2% year on year; total retail sales amounted to 46.89 million units, falling by 8.7% year on year.

5. Panasonic to Release Xephy Premium Series PAC with New nanoe X
This product is equipped with the new nanoe X, which was previously installed in room air conditioners (RACs), in five of the 11 types of indoor units for light commercial air conditioners. It suppresses harmful substances such as pollen (allergens) and PM 2.5 in the office, and deodorizes odors in less than half the time compared with the company’s conventional model. In addition, the sweat odor and fecal odor that occur in healthcare facilities for the elderly will be deodorized in a short time. During the internal cleaning operation of the indoor unit, the growth of mold and bacteria inside the air conditioner is suppressed by drying the heat exchanger and circulating the new nanoe X inside the air conditioner.
