3. New Tax on F-gases in Spain
A proposal for a new tax on fluorinated gases in Spain has shocked the industry. The current base of taxation, which applies only to leaked gases, is slated to be extended to all new F-gases placed on the market, either in bulk or in pre-charged equipment, either virgin or recycled, even for initially charged or new equipment, and aims at being implemented by September 1, 2022.

4. Heat Wave Takes Indian AC Sales to All-time High
The Indian air conditioner industry is seeing all-time high sales this year due to the heat wave that has been sweeping most of the country, but delay in receipt of components from COVID-hit China is causing shortages of premium models. With temperatures touching 49ºC in parts of New Delhi, sales in the country are expected to reach 8.5 million to 9 million units this year, up from 2019’s previous record of 6.5 million, said Eric Braganza, president of the Consumer Electronics and Appliances Manufacturers Association (CEAMA).

5. Musings on HVAC&R - Climate, Houses, and Air Conditioning – AC Requirements Vary According to Regions
According to a technical report from the International Energy Agency (IEA) titled ‘The Future of Cooling’, the number of operating air conditioners worldwide is expected to triple within about 30 years. As a result, air conditioning is estimated to account for 30% of the total electricity consumption of buildings. In order to prevent an increase in total energy consumption of air conditioning, in areas with rising demand, it is important to provide air conditioners that are suitable for the climate, houses, culture, and usage, and also to realize energy-saving operation.
