Severe Heatwave in India Exposes Gaps in Access to Cooling Products

As India struggled to cope with soaring temperatures during the summer months, experts warned that the lack of access to cooling products including air conditioners, refrigerators, and fans will cost lives and livelihoods. Almost 323 million people across the country are at high risk from extreme heat combined with a lack of cooling equipment such as fans and refrigerators, found a report released by Sustainable Energy for All (SE4All), an organization backed by United Nations (UN).
