1. Emerson to Sell Majority Stake in Climate Technologies
On October 31, 2022, Emerson announced a definitive agreement under which it will sell a majority stake in its Climate Technologies business to private equity funds managed by Blackstone, a leading global alternative asset manager, in a transaction valuing Climate Technologies at US$ 14.0 billion. The standalone Climate Technologies business includes the market-leading Copeland compressor business and the entire portfolio of products and services across all heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration (HVAC&R) end-markets, representing about US$ 5.0 billion of fiscal 2022 sales.

2. Heat Pumps in the Limelight at Interclima 2022
Interclima is the biggest trade fair for comfort and energy efficiency in France. The 2022 edition took place in Paris, on Oct. 3 to 6. Interclima attracted 322 exhibitors in the heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration (HVAC&R) sector that displayed their latest technology and solutions. The shift to low-global warming potential refrigerants (GWP) such as R32, propane (R290), and CO2 was a key trend, and against a backdrop of a potential energy crisis in Europe, energy efficiency was at the forefront.

3. Switching to Heat Pumps in Germany Generates Savings
By switching from gas to a heat pump, consumers can save several hundred euros a year. This is the conclusion of an expert report by the consulting company Prognos on behalf of BWP, the German heat pump association. The BWP and the VZBV, the federation of German consumer organizations, are calling on the federal government to create a legal framework for large-scale conversion to heat pumps as quickly as possible.

4. Daikin to Invest over ¥35 Billion in Its Indian AC Business over Next 3 Years
On Sep 28, 2022, Daikin held a briefing session titled ‘Aiming to become the overwhelming No. 1 and major base in India’ and released more detailed plans for its air conditioning business in India to achieve the above goal. The plans include an investment of more than ¥35 billion (about US$ 242 million) over the next three years.

5. Huayi to Set up Refrigerator Compressor Factor in Mexico
According to Chinese media, Jiaxibera Compressor, a subsidiary of Changhong Huayi, invested US$ 19.8 million to set up a joint branch company together with the subsidiary company Huayi Compressor Barcelona which invested US$ 200,000. The business range will include production and research and development (R&D) for refrigerator compressors. The project is under preparation, and its future production capacity will reach 4 million units per year
