1. Trane & Carrier Move to Next Phase of the Residential CCHP Challenge
As part of the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Initiative for Better Energy, Emissions, and Equity to advance research, development, and deployment of clean heating and cooling systems including heat pumps, DOE is sponsoring the Residential Cold Climate Heat Pump (CCHP) Challenge. One requirement of the CCHP Challenge is operating at an outdoor temperature of –20ºF (–29ºC).

2. Danfoss Turbocor to Set up Configuration & Service Center in Denmark
Danfoss Turbocor will establish a new Configuration and Service Center at the Danfoss headquarters in Nordborg, Denmark, in 2023. The aim is to support full production of Turbocor oil-free compressors for European customers in Denmark by 2026. The move will mean stronger and faster support for Danfoss’ European customers. In the past, Danfoss Turbocor compressors were manufactured in Shanghai, China, and in Tallahassee, Florida, the United States.

3. Daikin Aims to Achieve a Commanding Lead in the European HP Market
Daikin has four European heat pump production bases: Ostend in Belgium; Pilsen and Brno in the Czech Republic; and Güglingen in Germany. In addition, Daikin is investing €300 million (about US$ 308 million) to build a new plant in Lodz, Poland, which will have Daikin Europe’s largest production volume and start operations in July 2024. With this expansion, Daikin will achieve an increase of more than 400% in its heat pump production in Europe, far exceeding the growth rate of the market.

4. Carrier Thailand Expects 2022 Sales Growth of 10%
According to Thairath, a commercial newspaper in Thailand, In the first three quarters of 2022, Carrier Thailand’s sales growth mainly came from the newly launched wall-mounted type air conditioners, which had year-on-year growth of 21%. The company had year-on-year growth of 10% for 2022 total sales. It launched its two latest inverter air conditioner flagship models: Carrier Color Smart and Carrier XInverter Plus.

5. Chinese-made ACs Cool Venues of FIFA World Cup
The FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 was staged from November 20 to December 18, riveting the attention of football fans all over the world. During this exciting event in Qatar, Chinese-made air conditioners created a comfortable environment for the players, supporters, and staff at the eight official stadiums. Midea provided its anti-corrosion variable refrigerant flow (VRF) systems, floor-standing air conditioners, rooftop packages, etc. Gree provided a huge support team to supply and install a total of more than 40,000 air conditioning systems such as VRFs, fan coil units (FCUs), air handling units (AHUs), etc. Daikin McQuay also provided a total of 36 units of WCT two-stage compression centrifugal chillers with a cooling capacity of up to 103,500 tons. In addition, Hisense also acted as an official sponsor of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
