7.2 Centrifugal & Screw Compressors

Centrifugal and screw compressors are generally classified as large refrigeration compressors for air conditioning and refrigeration (AC&R). Their capacities now cover a very wide range from 30 to 5,000 tons based on the water-cooled conditions. Market demand for these large refrigeration compressors for AC&R use is very small on a quantity basis, accounting for only about 1% of that of scroll compressors. However, demand on a value basis accounts for about 7%, thanks to the high prices of these compressors.
