1. Global AC Market Pressurized by Inflation Hopes for Growth in Rest of the Year
— Review of Global AC Market in the First Half of 2023
The global air conditioner market in the first half of 2023 grew less than expected, with a slight increase compared with the same period of 2022, according to JARN’s interviews with major air conditioner manufacturers. The main reasons for this market slowdown are thought to be a decline in purchasing power due to global inflation, low temperatures in early spring in some parts of the northern hemisphere, and revision of the subsidy systems applying to energy-efficient air conditioners due to budget shortages, and other factors.

2. METUS Announces Hybrid VRF System
Mitsubishi Electric Trane HVAC US (METUS) recently announced the launch of its Hybrid Variable Refrigerant Flow (HVRF) system, which features a two-pipe VRF zoning system that uses water instead of refrigerant for heat transfer in indoor spaces. The HVRF uses Mitsubishi Electric’s Hybrid Branch Circuit Controller (HBC) to exchange heat between the refrigerant and water while providing simultaneous heating and cooling without using refrigerant indoors.

3. Danfoss Invests to Create Attractive Value
At the end of April, Kim Fausing, president and chief executive officer (CEO) of Danfoss, and Jürgen Fischer, president of Danfoss Climate Solutions, visited Japan. JARN seized this opportunity and interviewed them to hear about Danfoss’ focused investment strategy.

4. JRAIA Announces Programs of Its International Symposium in Kobe
This year, the International Symposium on New Refrigerants and Environmental Technology will be held on November 16 and 17, at Kobe International Conference Center, Hyogo Prefecture, Japan. JRAIA recently announced the detailed programs of the symposium, and the titles of the Keynote Address and presentations in Technical Sessions at the main hall.
