1. Carrier Releases New Vector Trailer Refrigeration Systems
On July 18, Carrier Transicold announced that it had released two premium-end models in its Vector series of trailer refrigeration units (TRU). The new 8700 and 8800MT models feature an advanced version of the smart engine that drives other trailer platforms offered by Carrier Transicold. The new models, which use R452A refrigerant, offer lifetime compliance with the California Air Resources Board’s (CARB’s) emissions rules for trailer refrigeration.

2. Epta & Viessmann Join Forces to Create a New European Refrigeration Leader
On July 18, 2023, Epta and Viessmann Refrigeration Solutions (VRS) announced that they had signed an agreement to create a joint venture (JV) and build a new leading commercial refrigeration player in Central and Northern Europe. Epta will own 70% of the JV, while VRS will own 30%. Upon closing the deal, Epta will fully consolidate the company into its group financial statements.

3. Europe Swelters
In July, many parts of Europe experienced abnormal heat. At the beginning of July, parts of Germany and Austria reportedly experienced high temperatures around 35ºC. On July 17, almost all of Italy’s major cities were under red alert, a warning level reserved for when the heat is so intense it poses a threat to the whole population, not just the vulnerable such as the elderly or young children. For example, Rome registered a new record high temperature of 41.8ºC, a local weather service reported. On July 18, parts of Spain experienced their highest temperatures ever, hit by the third heatwave in the country this summer. Temperatures in Sineu, a municipality in central Majorca, reached 42.8ºC. Boadella Reservoir near Darnius in Catalonia reached 45ºC.

5. Samsung Upgrades Its ACs to Fight High Electricity Bills in Thai Homes
Thai Samsung Electronics commented to local news Prachachat Turakij that saving energy is currently the top priority for Thai consumers when selecting electrical appliances, lowering the price factor to the second position. To meet such consumer needs, Samsung upgraded its electrical appliances such as air conditioners, washing machines, clothes dryers, and refrigerators that consume a lot of energy, by applying a new energy saving function with AI technology, which was launched in Thailand as the first country in Southeast Asia at the end of 2022.
