1. JRAIA International Symposium to Update on HVAC&R Industry Essentials
The Japan Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Industry Association (JRAIA) will hold the International Symposium on New Refrigerants and Environmental Technology 2023 at the Kobe International Conference Center on November 16 to 17. Ahead of this event, JARN interviewed Tetsuji Okada, president, and Kazuhiro Hasegawa, senior manager of the Engineering Department, JRAIA, to hear about the highlights of the symposium.

2. Maine Sets Higher Heat Pump Installation Goal
On July 21, Governor Janet Mills announced that Maine had surpassed its goal to install 100,000 heat pumps two years ahead of the target date of 2025. As of June 2023, the state had issued rebates for the installation of some 104,000 heat pumps. In response, the governor announced a new goal of installing an additional 175,000 heat pumps by 2027 in homes, businesses, and public buildings.

3. Asian HVAC&R Brands Take Initiative at IFA 2023
IFA 2023, the world’s leading consumer electronics and home appliances trade show, was held on September 1 to 5 at Messe Berlin in Germany. The 2023 edition attracted 180,000 attendees from more than 140 countries and 2,000 exhibitors including 500 startups at a rough estimate. Among them, Asian heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration (HVAC&R) brands also showcased their innovative products centering on exhibition areas for Household Appliances and Home & Entertainment.

4. Copeland Holds Customer Connect Events in India
Copeland recently celebrated this momentous occasion of becoming a stand-alone company in main metropolitan cities including Delhi and Mumbai. Speaking at the venue, Sandeep Gupta, vice president and managing director of Copeland India, said, “Copeland has over 100 years of legacy of developing innovative technology products and solutions for heating, cooling, and refrigeration segment. 5. First Bitzer Rotary Compressor Rolls off Production Line
On August 1, a ceremony was held to celebrate the first Bitzer rotary compressor rolling off the production line. The Bitzer rotary compressor production project is a key industry project in Zhenjiang City, Jiangsu Province, which will be constructed in three phases with a total investment of about RMB 1.1 billion (about US$ 151.5 million). When construction is completed, the project will achieve an annual production capacity of 6 million rotary compressors.
