A supercomputer is a processing system designed to achieve very high computing capabilities, dedicated to running very high performing mathematical operations. These systems consist of thousands or even millions of processors working together to solve very demanding computational problems, such as scientific simulations, big data analysis, weather forecasting, medical research and more. Due to their specific characteristics and purposes, supercomputers turn out to be very expensive tools and are usually funded and employed by big companies or research organizations.
