1. COP28 Outcomes to Greatly Impact AC & Heat Pump Industry
The 28th Conference of the Parties (COP28) to the United Nation Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) took place in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE), on November 30 to December 13, 2023, with a focus on assessing global progress toward achieving the goals set by the Paris Agreement. The conference addressed various key aspects, including the Global Stocktake (GST), funding mechanisms for addressing loss and damage, mitigation, adaptation, financing, and fair transition.

2. Hussmann Expands Production Capacity for CO2 Refrigeration Equipment
On December 6, Hussmann, a Panasonic company, announced that it was expanding production capacity at its Suwanee, Georgia facility for transcritical CO2 rack systems used by food retailers. Demand for transcritical CO2 systems has been rising in the U.S. refrigeration market as part of the hydrofluorocarbon (HFC) phasedown and ahead of new Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulations on the use of refrigerants with low global warming potential (GWP) and new construction that are set to take effect in January 2025.

3. €7 Billion in Investments Threatened by Drop in Heat Pump Sales
Sales of heat pumps for space heating and hot water production got off to a good start in Europe during the first quarter of 2023, but data released by the European Heat Pump Association (EHPA) show that sales dropped during the second and third quarters. On average in the ten countries analyzed, sales during the third quarter of 2023 dropped by 14% compared with 2022. The biggest drops were recorded in Finland and Denmark, which are traditionally strong markets. Strong sales figures in Germany at 120,000 and the Netherlands at 38,000 propped up the quarterly result of the overall market to some extent.

4. CR 2024 to Come to Beijing in April
China Refrigeration Expo 2024(CR 2024) - the 35th International Exhibition for Refrigeration, Air-Conditioning, Heating and Ventilation, Frozen Food Processing, Packaging and Storage- will be held on April 8 to 10 at China International Exhibition Center in Beijing. CR 2024 expects more than 1,300 exhibitors and more than 70,000 visitors from more than 100 countries and regions around the world. Besides the product exhibits, themed forums, symposiums, and technical exchange meetings are planned.

5. Carrier India Expands Made-in-India HVAC Product Portfolio
Carrier India announced on December 19, 2023, that it has expanded its HVAC products made in India with a range of air handling units (AHUs) and fan coil units (FCUs). These units are crafted to meet the diverse needs of India’s commercial buildings, providing custom solutions for healthy indoor environments with high-efficiency air filtering needs.
