Mitsubishi Electric: MS Compressor

MS is the brand-new Mitsubishi Electric variable speed single screw compressor with external inverter, both developed by Mitsubishi Electric. But how does a single screw compressor work? The compression chamber consists of one main screw rotor with twin gate rotors to trap the refrigerant and compress it. As the gate rotors are located 180°symmetrically to the screw rotor, the forces caused by compression on the screw rotor are balanced so that no radial force is exerted on the bearings.
