1. World Compressor Market – 2023 OVERVIEW
Seasonable weather, data centers, and heat pumps boosted the global compressor market in 2023 and its maintained it in growth. The fast growth of fifth-generation (5G) mobile base station centers, data center air conditioners, and district cooling applications has created new possibilities for compressor manufacturers. Demand for food, pharmaceuticals, and vaccines that require cold chains is significant. Major refrigeration equipment markets, such as Europe, the United States, and China, expanded considerably. Heat pumps have received strong support from all sectors as a renewable energy source and have expanded at a brisk pace. They have been widely adopted in Japan, Europe, and China. However, the use of heat pumps is just starting in the United States, one of the world’s biggest air conditioning markets.

3. SCROLL
JARN estimates that global market for scroll compressors saw a low single-digit decrease, reaching 16.27 million units in 2023. Global demand for 5G base station air conditioners continues to grow, offering excellent opportunities for scroll compressors. Replacement of higher-GWP refrigerants with lower-GWP refrigerants is driving demand for modular chillers, creating a steady increase in the refrigeration field.

4. SCREW
The global screw compressor market amounted to 135,200 units, achieving low single-digit growth in 2023. For air conditioning applications, screw compressors are facing hot competition due to intrusion into their capacity range by parallel scroll compressors in the lower capacity range and magnetic bearing centrifugal compressors in the higher capacity range.
