1. The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Finalizes Water Heater Efficiency Standards

Under the new standards, common sizes of electric storage water heaters will need to achieve the efficiency level of an entry-level heat pump storage water heater. This represents efficiency that is more than double the average efficiency of electric storage water heaters available in the market today. DOE expects that the standards will result in heat pump water heaters (HPWHs) accounting for over half of new electric storage water heaters. HPWHs currently only make up 3% of the market.

The Cambodian air conditioner market showed satisfactory growth in 2023. JARN estimates that the Cambodian market scale of split-type room air conditioners (RACs) reached 85,000 units and packaged air conditioners (PACs) reached 16,000 units in 2023. The variable refrigerant flow (VRF) system market is still small, with 3,000 units in 2023, but shows promising growth. At present, VRF demand is largely dominated by low to mid-end models.
