CEEE Co-Director Leads Global Webinar on Advances in Low-GWP Heat Pumps

2024-07-16
In an effort to phase down the use of hydrofluorocarbon (HFC) refrigerants that contribute to climate change, the Center for Environmental Energy Engineering (CEEE) is collaborating with researchers worldwide to advance the use of heat pump refrigerants with low global warming potential (GWP). Last month, CEEE Co-Director Yunho Hwang led a global webinar hosted by the non-profit Technology Collaboration Programme on Heat Pumping Technologies (HPT TCP) to disseminate the latest research led by HPT TCP’s Annex 54, which is devoted to advancing low-GWP refrigerants and developing design guidelines for optimized component and systems for low-GWP refrigerants. Hwang, a worldwide leader in heat pump technology and the development of eco-friendly refrigerants, heads Annex 54 as its operating agent.
