1. Daikin Celebrates Its 100th Anniversary
Daikin will celebrate its 100th anniversary this October. A commemorative ceremony to celebrate this milestone was held on May 21 at the Symphony Hall in Osaka City, where the company’s headquarters is located. The ceremony was attended by guests from the business community, academic societies, and business partners, in addition to about 1,800 Daikin Group employees from 30 countries across the world, making it a large scale event that brought together about 2,000 people.

2. Sweltering Summer Sparks Record Air Conditioner Sales in India
As India experienced an unprecedented heat wave, demand for air conditioners soared to new heights. The Consumer Electronics and Appliances Manufacturers Association (CEAMA) projects that sales may reach a record 14 million units by the end of 2024. This surge represents a significant increase in the volume of air conditioner units sold, driven largely by extreme temperatures and the resulting need for cooling solutions.

3. EPA Awards US$ 15M to Study HFC Reclamation and Destruction
On May 28, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced that it was awarding HFC Reclaim and Innovative Destruction Grants to five recipients across the country. The grants are part of the Biden Administration’s push to tackle climate change by reclaiming and destroying hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs) and funded through the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA). They range from US$ 1.5 million to US$ 3.8 million, for a total of almost US$ 15 million in grants.

4. Innova Aims to Achieve Greater Heights of Innovation with Panasonic
During Mostra Convegno Expocomfort (MCE) 2024 held in March in Milan, Italy, JARN interviewed Oreste Bottaro, the founder and chief executive officer (CEO) of Innova, an Italian innovative heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) company that set up a strategic alliance with Panasonic Heating & Ventilation A/C Company (Panasonic HVAC Company) in February 2024. Mr. Bottaro talked about Innova’s strengths and cooperative strategies with Panasonic, among other topics.

5. Huayi Cubigel Global Customer Conference Held in Barcelona, Spain
On May 20, 2024, the Huayi Cubigel Global Customer Conference and the Global Summit of the Light Commercial Refrigeration Compressor Industry were held on a grand scale under the theme ‘Together and Beyond’ at Hotel SB Diagonal Zero in Barcelona, Spain. For this event, the company invited its customers and key opinion leaders in Europe, as well as representatives from global associations such as China Household Electrical Appliances Association (CHEAA).
