On July 6, 2022, Daikin held a tour of Shiga Plant, the mother factory of the company’s room air conditioner (RAC) production, for the press, and JARN participated. Shiga Plant is celebrating its 52nd anniversary in 2022. The site area of Shiga Plant is about 255,000 m2, and the number of full-time employees is almost 1,500. At peak times, 2,300 to 2,500 people including line workers are working at the plant. The main products produced/developed are RACs, some commercial air conditioners (CACs), heat pump water heaters (HPWHs), and even concept products. In recent years, Daikin has also produced and developed air purifiers. The annual production in 2021, including water heaters and CACs, was 1.08 million units.
